City walls Among the many well-known monuments in Istanbul, the centuries-old city walls stand out with their effective surroundings and construction. They were demolished only twice in their all history, firstly by the Latin Crusaders in 1204 and again in 1453 by the Ottoman Turks who tried to conquer the city of Constantinople.
Suleymaniye Mosque (Scholarship Of Sinan) One of the most important and must-see place that is a sample of Ottoman architectural work and the masterpiece of Sinan in 1550. The impressive mosque, also the burial chamber of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Roxelana.
Spice Bazaar (Egyptian Bazaar) The Spice Bazaar dates back to the 17th Century. It is one of Istanbul’s oldest covered markets, where the exotic, oriental aspect of the city still survives. It is the best place to find spices, herbal teas, and traditional Turkish foods such as Turkish delight (lokum).
Dolmabahçe Palace (Beauty of Bosphorus) The palace is located on the European side (Beşiktaş) of bosphorus with magnificent view. It was the home of six sultans from the 1856. The constraction, cost appriximitely 35 tonnes of gold and is the largest palace in Turkey. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder and first president of modern Turkish Republic, used the palace as a presidential residence and his most important Works and decisions. This is also the where he died on November 10, 1938.
