About İstanbul

The city that has been existing human habitation for at least 8-9 thousand years on it. The most important characteristic of the city is connection point of three continents that are Europe, Asia and Africa. That is why, the city located on spice route that is one of the oldest trade way of the world too. Actually, Istanbul has three different eras of history that are called as Megarians, Romans (Constantinople) and Ottoman Empire (The Turks). According to historians, the first name of the city is Byzantion which has founded (European side of today's modern Istanbul) by the Megarian King Byzas in B.C. 667. (Megarians was the ally of Spartans in that era of the history.)

When the city has been captured by the Romans who call the city as Byzantium in A.C.196. After the death of (I.Constantine) Contantine The Great the city announced as "Constantinapolis" ( which means "The city of Constantine" ) in A.C. 337 (I.Constantine) who is one the most important builder of the city. Constantinopolis was the capitol of the East Rome Empire and the city has been called with that official name until the era of Ottoman Empire. The city conquested by Mehmet the Conqueror (A.C. 1453) who is called Faith or Conqueror , was the Ottoman Turkish sultan from 1451 to 1481.

In that era of history is the origin of the today's modern Istanbul because the Ottoman Empire brings the muslim relligion with theirselves to the city. And today, The city is so mystic, historical, multicultural and so exciting place to explore.
